Our laptop is a personal and significant work tool in our daily lives, however, not everyone is clear about the size of the laptop screen, which is important information when looking to buy a laptop bag or any other accessory related to our precious computer. If you don't know how many inches your laptop is, there are a few ways to check.
Checking the serial number and model
The easiest and quickest way to check your laptop's screen size is to check the computer's serial number and model. This information is almost always found on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
Once you've found the model, you can search for the model name or serial number on Google or on computer store websites. In the technical specifications, you'll find the screen size in inches.
Manual screen measurement
If you can't find the model name or information online, you can measure the screen yourself by doing the following:
- Take a ruler or measuring tape: A flexible measuring tape is preferable, but a regular ruler will also do the job.
- Measure the diagonal: Laptop screen sizes are measured in inches diagonally, from the bottom left corner to the top right corner of the screen (or vice versa). Be sure to measure only the screen itself, meaning without the screen bezel.
- Convert the measurement to inches: If you measured in centimeters, divide by 2.54 (1 inch = 2.54 cm).
For example, if you measured the diagonal and found it to be 39 cm, divide by 2.54 to get 15.35 inches, meaning your laptop is approximately 15.4 inches in size.
If you just want to measure in centimeters, that's fine! In each of our models, we indicate the size of the bag in centimeters, and that's enough to know whether your computer will fit or not.
Checking computer settings
Another way to check the screen size is through your laptop's settings:
- Windows: Click the Start button, type "System Information" and select the correct option. In the window that opens, look for the screen size information.
- macOS: Click the apple icon in the upper right corner of the screen, select "About This Mac", and there you will find the screen size information.
